Yeah, you’re much more likely to kill someone by cutting off blood flow than actual suffocation. An incorrectly placed choke hold can cause brain damage, so yeah, definitely more likely to be caused by lack of blood flow/oxygen than actual air
And even then, it takes more than 30 seconds to cause serious damage, let alone kill someone. Heck, people can be OK after their heart stops for something like 2 minutes. It’s not good for you, but someone isn’t going to be DEAD.
They’re pouring latex on him to make a false chest. So that they can place the arc reactor prop in him and make it legitimately look like it’s embedded in is flesh and with tears and scar tissue. The latex is colored so they can see where they are applying and how thick the layers are. It will then be airbrushed to his skintone and details like nipples scar tissue discoloration will be added.

Then the reactor prop is added to the dimple. Basically the latex becomes fake skin and they tear part of the center open to embed it.
Now you can see how realistic it looks.

Yeah, if someone is freaking out they’re gonna be using a lot of oxygen and will pass out fairly soon. Still, it takes longer than, like, 20 seconds.
Okay, every crime TV show ever, it takes WAY longer than that to strangle someone. Even if you’re directly cutting off bloodflow to the brain instead of just preventing them from breathing, it takes a couple minutes, bare minimum, to kill someone. 30 seconds won’t do it.
I literally just held my breath for longer than this guy in this TV show strangled someone for to kill them. Without significant difficulty.
Yeah, I know you can’t make a good show with like 4 minutes of someone being strangled. Very few people want to watch that. So, TV people really gotta come up with better ways of killing people than strangulation.
