Slinky! 🐙
Late in season one or early in season two, the Nemesis is rudely jolted out of the position it has sat in on the bottom of the Atlantic Ocean for the last four million years by an unexpected shifting of tectonic plates nearby, slipping down deeper into the sea, and taking on liberal amounts of water. This is a problem for multiple reasons; one, Cybertronians apparently saw no reason to waterproof their supercomputers, as neither Teletraan-1 nor Trypticon (which I realise I have never mentioned before, but it’s the Nemesis’ computer system) is designed to safely interact with liquids.
Two, liquids entering primary vents is a great way to get sick, isn’t it Megs?
And three, Slinky.
Slinky is just a common octopus, which finds its way into the Nemesis through a hole in the hull of one of the secondary engine rooms, and then takes up residence in the flooded maintenance passages. It was named by Skywarp, after Megatron described it as ‘slinking’ around his tools while he was attempting to patch the hole it entered through. After this first incident, Slinky apparently takes it upon itself to disrupt Megatron’s repairs at every turn. The other cons find this concerning, Skywarp finds it hilarious, and Soundwave has oddly taken to recording all of the strange noises Megatron makes whenever he is startled by the creature.
Slinky is probably worth a recurring joke, or a subplot of an episode at best, but if an octopus in the engine room is going to distract Megatron from ordering the destruction of Earth every time he discovers a new and terrifying species of deep sea fish, Slinky is probably the true hero of Omega Quest.Slinky is important 🐙 and in this house we live and respect Slinky
Soundwave probably likes all the weird sea life, especially the bioluminescent ones.
