Oh noooooooooo now I’m thinking about Soundwave suddenly being roped into a gladiator school after somehow surviving his execution, being given frame upgrades as soon as physically possible, and Laserbeak coming into the world in the wee hours of the morning in the darkest corner of Soundwave’s tiny room.

*tada hands*

The decision is made to let him keep Laserbeak rather than snuffing her unborn spark because he’ll fight all the harder knowing that she’ll die without him. She’s tiny, she’s helpless, and she relies entirely on him for everything.

You think a mother bear is ferocious, but she can’t hold a candle to a symbiote host with full understanding of the situation.

Sudden thought:

TFP Soundwave, with his light build and seeming fragility, was originally intended to be a ‘bait mech’ when he ended up in the arena. Similar to bait animals for dog fights, bait mechs were small, weak targets intended to be messily torn apart to rev particularly vicious fighters up and give the crowd a starting thrill to get them excited.

Soundwave was intended to be torn apart and die in an entertaining way.

He was not intended to kill the gladiator who tried to tear him apart. Came as a shock to everyone- including, though he’ll never admit it, poor young Soundwave.
