At first I was like “no don’t reblog it’ll weird people out” then I was like “oh right that’s the point”
add this:
MEN USE IT AS A WAY TO INVALIDATE YOUR ANGER WITH THEM SO THEY DON’T HAVE TO APOLOGIZE
SERIOUS PAIN DURING YOUR CYCLE IS NOT NORMAL.
It happens, and it’s treated as normal, but it isn’t. If you are in serious pain during your period, beyond a mild ache, something is medically wrong.
You can go on medication to stop your period. There are sometimes side effects, but you can go to a doctor, explain your symptoms, get a diagnosis, and get medications to make your period stop. You can also get painkillers for during your period.
I have endometriosis. It’s when cells of your endometrium, the uterine lining, escape and adhere to things like your intestines and the outside of your uterus. When you have your period, the adhesions become inflamed and cause pain when you move, and they make your cramps vastly worse, in addition to many other terrible symptoms.
I went to a doctor, I described my level of pain and the tugging sensation during my cycle (note; not always present), and with no exam other than a belly-area ultrasound I got a prescription for a progesterone-based birth control pill. I take it every day, and I don’t get my period at all unless I take the pill too late. I also have a strong prescription painkiller for when I do take the pill too late and get cramps.
If you are in serious pain during your cycle, or just pain beyond a mild ache, go see a doctor.
