So I learnt something interesting tonight while checking temperatures in everyone’s habitats…………..

The tiniest, greenest cat in existence.

Laser enrichment has been shown to work with many animals, even fish!

Any animal with interest in chasing small, moving things can potentially be entertained by a laser pointer. Fish, definitely, as long as you’re careful not to shine it on their eyelid-less eyeballs. Also, dart frogs will go nuts and bomp into each other chasing after one.

Blu is a smol, sleepy pup.

This is a great video showing some of my favorite things about legless lizards: their tongues look like a cross of a snake and gecko tongue, they have cute blinky eyes, their jaws are much more solid than snakes and they can chew, and many have tougher scales than snakes which is why they have that seam on the sides, it gives them flexibility to eat and breath.

kaijutegu:

One of the most distinctive characteristics of the Salvator tegus is their massive pterygoid muscles. These muscles are the underlying structure behind the puffy jowls. This is a video I made of Kaiju obliterating a langoustine (a small lobster), demonstrating her ability to quickly assess a strange food source and eat something that a human would have a very hard time with. Tegus are durophagous, which means they’ve evolved to eat hard things. They aren’t specialists, like their cousins the caiman lizards (who have very blunt crushing teeth, all the better to eat snails with), but their powerful jaws make them a force to be reckoned with.

This video also demonstrates my ability to ramble on for several minutes at a time about pretty much nothing.
