toadschooled:

This burgundy beauty is an African giant toad [also known as the Congo toad, Amietophrynus superciliaris], a true toad found throughout western and central Africa. Due to its enormous range many have suggested that African giant toads are actually a species complex composed of three or more extremely similar, but slightly different, species. Despite the fact that the toad has a status of “least concern” on the IUCN Red List, their sale in international trade was made illegal in 1975, out of fear that their unique looks would cause them to be over-harvested for the pet trade. I got some good pictures of my new Molly.

He’s so gorgeous.

For anyone wondering about the coral in the background, mollies can be acclimated to fresh, brackish, or salt water. They also eat algae, and they’re one of the few small algae-eaters you can buy for a saltwater tank that don’t tend to bite at corals.

And sometimes you get gorgeous ones like this.

fossilera:

An incredibly Boedaspis trilobite fossil. This rare species is arguably one of the most impressive trilobites in the world. Over a month of preparation work went into extracting it from the surrounding limestone by a master fossil preparitor.  It’s done using low pressure air abrasives and airscribes under microscope.
