I haven’t seen anybody talking about it yet, but this flu season is off to a bad start and experts are concerned it’s going to get worse. If you have any insurance at all, flu shots are free at places like CVS, Walgreens, and Target, and at a low-cost out of pocket. They are absolutely worth getting, even at limited effectiveness, to prevent contraction and/or limit severity of illness. If it is at all possible for you, it’s a good idea to get your flu shot ASAP.

I literally never get that shot ever since I stopped going to school and I haven’t even got the sniffles.

That’s cool, but past good fortune is not a guarantee of future health. If you interact with other people at all you are still at risk of contracting the flu or causing it to be spread to others – most people with the flu don’t show symptoms but are able to pass it on to others. If you spend time around children or the elderly, or people with compromised immune systems, the best thing you can do to protect them is to get vaccinated yourself.

I understand hating needles – I have a severe needle phobia that causes me to pass out and go into full-body convulsions during injections (sometimes even at the mention of needles). That’s one of the reasons I had to stop HRT. However, minimizing the flu is very important so I get my shots anyway.
