million dollar idea: instead of spending thousands of dollars on steady-cam equipment, filmmakers should just attach a camera to the head of a chicken and carry the chicken around as you film.

They actually did that.

cannot. stop. laughing.

Birds do this because their eyes are large, flattened disks instead of spheres, so the eyes can’t move in the skull. Instead, the bird moves its entire head in tiny motions. As such, they have the brain-programming, basically, to subconsciously move their head to give them steady sight in the same way that mammals subconsciously move their eyes. It’s awesome.

You know what the Green Heron is basically the best heron because it is like 90% neck so when it is all folded down it looks like a giant head with wings and legs

fucking green herrons

What the fuck

In case you need proof that animals can lie.

Also, they nest in trees, except their feet aren’t made for trees. Their toes are too long and don’t really curl around thin twigs. It’s like watching someone walk around on a jungle gym in snowshoes. The babies are even more hilarious.

Photo of the Day – The Black-throated Parrotbill (Suthora nipalensis) is found in the northern region of the Indian subcontinent and adjoining parts of south-east Asia. Some of the countries it can be found in include Myanmar, Bhutan, India, Nepal, Thailand and Vietnam. It is mostly found in tropical and subtropical moist montane forests.

This lovely photo was taken by Glen Valentine in Myanmar

This looks like a bird that was drawn by someone who’s never seen a bird up close before. It’s got all the right parts, but the beak is weird, and the eyes are even more so.

Cute, tho.
