Those pellets are too big for you, Triton.

Cory: foob? Foob!! *nibble nibble*

Triton: foob is for big fish leik me *CHOKES*

THIS MADE ME CHOKE ON MY WATER OMG

How is this betta not picking a fight with the cory?! :O

Triton is very chill! When it’s the corys’ feeding time, he goes out of his way to make sure he doesn’t nip them by accident. He is a very good boy!

Not all bettas are aggressive enough to care about fish that don’t look like them. Cories are generally safe, plus they have armor plates for insurance against an occasional nip.

Eggs, a Betta albimarginata, trying to show the panda corydoras out of camera view who’s boss.

I love these guys! They’re a wild betta species, but most in the trade are captive-bred, and they’re relatively easy to breed. They can be kept in multiples, as they aren’t particularly aggressive, due to not being bred for fighting like pet store B. splendens formerly were.

I used to have two pairs in a 30 gallon cube, and the two males set up territory on either side of the tank. If one got into the other’s space, they’d flare and circle a bit, but would leave it at that. The females swam freely between the territories.

-punches caribsea sand- Always takes forever to clear up. Anyway, I changed it again a little bit! I took the smaller “tree” and just added it onto the main tree so I can hopefully create a canopy of sorts with some moss. We shall see! I think the lil’ dude likes it. I cant wait to see how this tank transforms over the next few months 🙂
