It’s been two fucking years (technically, I suppose, two days less than two years) since JJ Abrams said he based the First Order on Nazis can shipper stop saying they’re not fascists/Nazi parallels already.

A Jewish man wrote a story about fighting Nazis and you’re all just ‘hmm…nah I don’t think so.’

I don’t know how anyone could’ve watched this movie, see this

And not instantly connect it to Nazism. The coding is there, obvious, plain as day, staring you in the face, in the movie itself, but you’re just ‘let’s fawn over these guys’.

It wasn’t even Abrams. The Galactic Empire and the Sith Empire the preceded it are also extremely unsubtle fascism.

In SWTOR, Dark Side Sith have this thing about blood purity going on.

This has been Star Wars’ thing since it’s inception.

They talk about this in a documentary they made for The History Channel, it’s called “Star Wars: The legacy revealed”.

That’s an extract of the Wikipedia page but the documentary itself is really detailed and interesting, and it explains not only the link to the Nazis but also other links with facism and dictators

“The Legacy Revealed shows many connections between the Nazis and the Empire. Examples shown are that Vader’s own troops, Stormtroopers, share the same name with Hitler’s. The black, white, and red used in many scenes with the Empire are the same colors of the swastika, and that Darth Vader’s helmet is similar to that of the German Army’s.” (wikipedia)

hey writers if you want to make a metaphor for racism, please maybe remember that racism is literally based on nothing. Africans weren’t enslaved en masse because the Robo-Musa threatened to destroy the world, they were enslaved because it was economically rewarding and politically convenient. If at any point your allegory for racism includes “so <oppressed group> did this major catastrophe and” then you have not only missed the point but you are literally reinforcing the ideas that racism have let racism self-perpetuate (that e.g. black people are naturally dangerous and violent and must be contained or begrudgingly accepted by the Nice White People)

Hey signal boost!!!!

hey it’d mean a lot to me if yall’d reblog this since as an autistic person this is really fucking disgusting

we are not fuckin dogs to be microchipped wtf???? this only allows autistic people to be abused even easier than before

im sure non-autistic people can rb this for their autistic followers??

Look, I understand giving your kid a tracking bracelet/necklace/pocket device/etc and telling them what it does if you’re worried they’ll get lost. If your kid is prone to wandering off or getting lost for whatever reason, that’s a good thing.

The issue here is the fact that it’s hidden.

Consider sharing this video somewhere people who don’t usually care for reptiles may see… just in case any of them ever run across a teeny tiny turtle and end up with something that outgrows their fishbowl and outlives their entire family.

^THISSSSSSSSSS

Seriously red eared sliders are one of
the WORST possible pets for the vast majority of people that buy them.
They are higher maintenance than any other commonly sold reptile (with
the possible exception of iguanas), they get HUGE, and they live for
DECADES. Not to mention that they are a horrible invasive species in
many places.

Red eared sliders are probably the most commonly
abused and neglected pet reptile species. They do not make good pets
for kids. They are not low maintenance in any way. If you want one think
long and hard about whether you want a pond in your house and get one
from a reptile rescue or Craigslist.

I’ve worked at PetSmart for about a year now. I’ve seen probably just short of two dozen RESs sell (we sell other turtles too).

I’ve never seen a single one of these turtles go to a good home. Ever.

Even if you can care for an RES, do not buy it from a pet store. Chances are if you buy one, it will be replaced by two. Get one as a rescue.

TL;DR: that tiny baby turns into a huge, messy animal that needs a literal pond to be healthy.
