i never talk about these things but i can’t remain silent.

i know tumblr doesn’t give a SHIT when things happen in countries outside the “most popular ones” (such as the usa & england). it’s true, don’t lie to me. y’all don’t give A FUCK. not every issue and problem in said countries gets the appropriate exposure but in general shit shows up on the news WORLD FREAKING  WIDE. you set up donations, you help out, your spread the word, you say “pray for x”……

southern europe is burning.

my country is burning.

people are dying – at home, on the road, trying to run away, in their cars.

yesterday my country had 300 active fires.

people are losing EVERYTHING they own.

i have a friend that is on a train right now passing through places that have been burnt to the ground and she says the smoke is so intense it’s getting inside the train and she can barely breathe.

and yet, even though several people (myself included) have been trying to bring awareness to what has been happening in southern europe… what we get from most of you, those not part of the countries suffering, is silence. we don’t ask for money, we don’t ask for shit other than a reblog to spread awareness… something you can delete in 24/48hrs if you wish.

i don’t know what to tell you. i’m angry. i’m frustrated. i’m disappointed. i feel like i’m screaming into the void. “a reblog does nothing” – you know that’s a damn lie, you know exposure always helps, you know people start paying attention when posts on social media become popular. my country in particular is a small one, we get ZERO exposure. y’all are only starting to figure out we even fucking exist bc of the shit we’ve been winning lately.

but hell, if the EU doesn’t give a shit, why should some user on tumblr dot com?

again, i don’t know what to tell you so i’ll let the images speak for themselves:

This is fucking important. I am glad someone fucking spoke about this and said what they had to say. The damage is terrible, and all the evergreen, stone, even the ground is black. I was fucking terrified when Croatia was burning. The fire was near a village where I like and I thought it will burn down. I thought the church will burn down. I thought the cemetery where my grandpa is buried will burn. I still remember the smell of smoke, and when I went to check how bad is fire, my clothes and hair and skin all stunk of smoke. It didn’t go away for weeks.

This is NASA’s picture of Croatia and Montenegro burning. My fucking country was burning. Fucking reblog this. I don’t care that it isn’t UK or US, or that it doesn’t go with your blog, fucking. Reblog. It.

I live in California and know all too well how horrific fires are. Just yesterday a town near mine, Ojai, has multiples fires in one day while it was 104°F/40°C, not only are the fires themselves damaging to propery but they’re damaging to people. A lot of these people will need help and need to relocate, and sadly most governments try to get away with doing the least amount they can get away with unless people throw a fit and bring awareness to the situation. Reblog if you can.

BIG KITTEN

Seeing a lot of comments about this being a pet, and according to the source video he’s actually not a pet, this is a video from 2008, the tiger cub was named Jonas and that’s a zookeeper from Bowmanville Zoo from that he was with, they had to bring him inside (only at night) because he was on an hourly feeding schedule and then he’d spend the entire day with other cubs!

even if that’s true this still completely unsafe. a tiger should not be free roaming around a house with a person. there’s food and beer bottles around. even if he needs to come inside at night, he doesn’t need to be in the zookeepers house where he could easily injure the zookeeper or eat something he shouldn’t.

Tfw when they’re zookeepers who’re literally trained to know what’s best for/how to handle the animals more than someone on the internet but whatever my dude

you really think that it’s totally safe for a tiger to be freely roaming inside a house (again, with random junk and beer bottles laying around) just because a (apparent) zookeeper is present, huh?

@why-animals-do-the-thing @zoologicallyobsessed can either of y’all help me out here if you’re able because… i don’t know how else to plainly say that it should just take common sense to realize a tiger inside a house like that is unsafe

I mean how do you explain to people that having a literal wild animal that can and will kill you in your house in unsafe….

The person being a zookeeper is irrelevant, that’s a wild animal not a pet. Tigers like this that grow up, after being handled / in contact with keepers, end up killing keepers. Because they are not domesticated pets they are wild animals.

And these keepers are horrible for putting this shit online cause it lets the public think this sort of stuff / treatment of wildlife is okay or safe. When it’s anything but.

Everyone on this thread trying to say the above is okay is obviously clueless and i suggest not talking about things you clearly have no idea about because you spread your dangerous and incorrect opinions onto other people.

ignorance is contagious

tackylesbians:

okay this is gonna sound weird but bear with me for a second

a couple months ago my friend told me about something called “lesbian sheep syndrome.” when sheep mate, all the female sheep has to do is stand there and the male sheep will take the initiative. but when two female sheep want to bang (and yes, lesbian sheep exist) they just sidle up to each other and wait because neither of them know what to do

lesbian humans do the same fucking thing. as women we are conditioned not to seek out relationships because it’s the men’s job to pursue us. we are actively discouraged from participating in our own romance. so when two women like each other, there’s this weird stand off because neither of them know how to proceed. add our internalized homophobia to the mix and it’s nearly impossible for us to find relationships without going through a significant amount of mutual pining and emotional distress first

the whole point of this is i know it’s intimidating to talk to someone new, especially a pretty girl, but you’ve gotta make a move! you can’t be a lesbian sheep!

“And I know it hurts, and I know it’s hard, and I know anything we can ever do is a tiny drop in an ocean of pain, but what else do we do? Do we watch the world burn around us and throw gasoline on the flames? Do we drink and drug ourselves into oblivion and float away despite the pain of everyone else? Do we lay down and die right now and get it over with?

Well I say NO.

I say we get up, we tell the void to fuck off, and we keep working. Because eventually something has to give, and, even if it doesn’t, we can sure as Hell try. And maybe trying is all we can do, but we can do it, and we can take away little bits of pain.

Even if that’s all we can do, it helps.

Even if it never matters in the end, even if everything crumples into dust eventually and the universe will never know about us, we can help.

And maybe, just maybe, that ocean isn’t infinite.

Maybe there aren’t enough of us right now, but what if the next generation can add enough onto what we do? Or the next, or the next?

I say, if there is any hope at all that we can, not even stop this, but take a few fragments away, we keep fighting. We keep clawing at the void, for as long and as hard as we can, and we teach our children to do the same.

Because that’s all we can do, but it matters, at least to the people we do it lift.

And we need to remember that.

People matter. Even if it’s only for a century or so, people matter.

So we stand up, and we do this, and we keep doing it.

We do everything we can.

Even if we have to rest sometimes.

Even if we get exhausted.

Even if we may never see what good it does in the end.

We. Fight.”
