Even if that pool in the video was all they had, it wouldn’t even be too terrible. I’ve seen zoos give their otters about as much space with the otters still being happy enough to even have babies.

aquaristlifeforme:

Space is always an issue for people when looking critically at captive animals. Sometimes yeah, that animal should have more space. But other times the exhibit is meeting that animal’s needs. And it may not seem that way to the untrained eye, but it’s always ok to ask things like: how much room do they have behind the scenes? How does the animal utilize this space? What types of enrichment does this animal get? Why is the exhibit designed this way? Are there any future plans or fundraisers to improve this exhibit because I would like to contribute. Etc.

It should be noted that reproduction isn’t always a marker of happiness. Animals breeding means they aren’t under enough stress to potentially die, nothing more. Puppy mills exist, after all.

Good Boys get bananas. This wee one-and-a-half pound bantam rooster was faced with a fox attempting to infiltrate his coop nary an hour ago and he decided the best course of action was to try and KICK THE SHIT OUT OF ITS STUPID FOX FACE. He lost a spur in the battle through the fence, but he did not lose his life, or any of his hens’ lives. He bravery allowed his hens to raise the alarm and gave me time to waylay the beast. Corporal is The Good Boy. The Best Boy. The Bravest Boy.

please tell corporal i would Die for Him

Just a reminder that roosters aren’t evil and should be appreciated, too!!

Hey oc related question

How do y’all introduce your ocs? I realize I haven’t actually Done That before and I just have a scattering of things.

-freezes- you’re supposed to introduce them?

I usually make a post with a description of them, plus whatever comes to mind about personality and history. Doesn’t have to be /that/ long, it’s just good to have something to tag with their name and point out to people who I’m throwing them at.

The above tweet has been circulating around twitter for a few hours. I just wanna clear something up:

This is 100% fake.

tl;dr it’s a smear campaign created by 4channers trying to mock the lgbt community by coercing them into accepting pedophiles into their community. the idea is that by doing this, allies will stop supporting the community. The article linked in this post is complete horseshit as well, and implies that pedophilia is only illegal if it’s physical contact.

Also, no one’s in charge of adding to the fucking LGBT acronym.

While the sentiment behind sharing and deriding this post is appreciated, please don’t spread upsetting and potentially harmful misinformation!

Old school is the best school.

i read this and was not surprised in the least.

Let them run. No, really… that’s it.

While most school districts across the country are cutting back on recess time and ramping up the Ritalin, one Texas school has kindergartners and first graders sitting still and “incredibly attentive.”

What’s their secret? Their recess time has tripled.

Instead of 20 minutes of recess per day, Eagle Mountain Elementary kindergartners and first graders now get an hour, broken up into four 15-minute breaks, in addition to lunchtime.

Their teachers say it’s totally transformed them.

The kids are less fidgety, less distracted, more engaged in learning and make more eye contact.

Eagle Mountain is one of dozens of schools in Texas, Oklahoma and California testing out extra recess time as part of a three-year trial. The pilot program is modeled after the Finnish school system, whose students get some of the best scores in the world in reading, math and science.

Wait…are you telling me that allowing kids to have fun play time to channel their exuberance makes them better learners? That we should treat kids like kids instead of like tiny adults and then doping them up to eyes in meds “to help them focus”?

MADNESS!! /s

But in all seriousness though, I’m surprised that people are surprised that letting kids play for a bit is a better solution than putting them on Ritalin or something.

I saw this article on Facebook and didn’t even read it cuz i thought it would be some anti-meds crap that totally acts like ADHD isnt even real but wow this is actually good and legitimate and not demeaning

yeah i’m hella ADHD and love me some concerta but honestly… small children are just energetic and they NEED to move and play.

Instead of 20 minutes of recess per day, Eagle Mountain Elementary kindergartners and first graders now get an hour, broken up into four 15-minute breaks, in addition to lunchtime.

Uh what?? Has it always been like that in America??? Just 20 min/day??

Holy shit, we had 10 min breaks every hour plus one 20 min break for lunch everyday from kindergarden to highschool!

That’s fucked up guys.. Little kids need time to run and play.. no wonder that worked…

Yeah. That’s pretty normal in the US. If you’re really lucky, you get ½ hour broken up into two 15 minute breaks.

If i remember correct it was like that for me in Canada. A 15 minute recess and a 20-30 minute lunch break.

in my elementary school, we had 30 minutes to eat lunch, and our recess was included in that time frame so like, we had to choose between running around and eating

Since you can’t add comments underneath chat posts, I’m making a whole new post for @cadesama‘s tags underneath that “give me your hairdryer” incorrect quote:

#star wars#i actually like the idea that anakin’s idea of civilians is 100% formed by padme#you’re not carrying a blaster bail? what?#do you need to go and change clothes before the mission bail? riyo?#no judgment #just bafflement

Because this made me crave an Anakin/Padme/Bail team up in the worst way. Imagine all three of them send on some diplomatic mission that goes south. Padme and Anakin instantly enter into Battle Couple mode, with Bail trailing bewildered after them.

Anakin, readying his lightsaber: We’ve got a problem, better take out your blasters.

Bail: What?

Padme: *takes out her blaster*

Bail: What?

Anakin, confused: Bail, did you forget your blaster?

Bail: I don’t take a blaster to a peaceful negotiations!

Padme, taking out a second blaster: Don’t worry, you can borrow mine.

Bail, now equipped with a blaster: What??
