You can! Make a sort of  yelping noise, crouch down to their level, and rub/stroke all the spots they like, putting yourself low to the ground. It’s similar to how pups apologize for playing too rough, and it communicates “I didn’t mean to!!” to your doggo.

This cat is, I think, a mosaic. Mosaics are chimeras, i.e. organisms with two different sets of genes depending on where you test them, usually due to absorbing a twin as a fetus. This is basically two cats Frankensteined together in a very spotty, patchwork manner, at least if my suspicions are correct.

this cat has vitiligo actually

Ah, that also makes sense.

Well, mosaics exist, and often look kinda like this, but evidently this is not one.

please if you’re considering getting chickens do not waste your money on coops  like these. i can promise you these are cheap and not predator proof just by looking at them. their manufacturers will say you can fit 4+ hens in here, which is a flat out lie. this is barely enough room for one hen to sleep in, and definitely not something i would keep a chicken in long-term. and the sad thing is that these are some of the most popular “chicken coops’ on amazon

They’re actually pretty great for an indoor pair of pigeons, but definitely not outdoors and no more than a pair. Also super overpriced…we got one for free from our neighbors but I wouldn’t pay more than $75 for any of these designs.

If you reinforce one of these massively, which will cost about as much as just building your own, you can keep quail in it. Any given raccoon will tear one of those right open. And yes, you have raccoons in the area. New York City has raccoons. Everybody in North America has raccoons. They’re everywhere and they will find and kill your birds unless you keep them out.

hmmmm how about pet goldfish that have been let go into the wild

This is actually how big these guys are supposed to get, for anyone not aware. The top looks like one of the larger fancy breeds, the bottom is a very fat common goldfish. Goldfish are domesticated carp with shiny scales.

do fish get enrichment? what does that look like?

aquaristlifeforme:

When I work at a zoo or Aquarium I definitely enrich the fish. It can be different food types, a bubbler, rearranging their tank, adding new things to the tank, changing up the lighting, freezing their food in ice cubes or putting it in puzzles. I have some pictures of fish enrichment somewhere near the beginning of my blog. I have no idea what I tagged it as three years ago. And you probably don’t want to scroll till you’re 90. 😂 But, remember, just doing general tank maintenance counts as enrichment in fish world. Water changes, taking things out to clean them, small changes in water chemistry, putting your hand in there, turning the flow to the tank off, are all very enriching.

For more intelligent fish like cichlids and bettas, putting an interesting object just outside the tank can also provide some level of enrichment. They also like TV! I’m not sure what they can see of it, but they’ll definitely watch the motions. Show your fish Youtube videos.
