Hey! Quick question; what’s the best way you’ve found to water your Venus flytrap? My partner recently took one on and they seem to have a hard time keeping them adequately watered and fed – the heads blacken and die far more quickly than they’re seemingly supposed to, and what to do varies greatly across the Internet. Your plants look fantastic, so I’d figured I’d ask.

glumshoe:

Well, I trim the traps off once they start to dry out and blacken – they’ve only got so many snaps in them, and I’d rather encourage new growth than trying to power a failing trap. So, the only reason you don’t see any blackened traps on mine is because I just pruned them!

As for watering, the best way to do it is to put the pot inside a tray at least a couple of inches deep and “water from the bottom”. I haven’t had much luck pouring water over the soil, but pouring it into the tray allows the roots to soak it up. They can stand in water for a long time, so I just refill when the tray is mostly dry.

Also, they need distilled water. Blackening parts of the plant can mean it’s being poisoned by minerals.

This episode of prof.Peach is for all you forgetful folk out there who need a little help sometimes.

All pokemon can be taught to help you of course, but these four are particularly adept at it!

The care pages for these pokemon are on my PATREON, and if your interested in seeing them head to my page and follow the link in the bio!

I hope you’ll join us again soon when we talk about the best Pokémon for epileptics or people who suffer with siezures. Have a happy weekend guys!
