Do you think they should rescue scarlet?

derangedhyena-delphinidae:

No.

And the word is ‘capture’, not rescue. Her immediate situation isn’t the problem, her condition is the result of a culmination of issues – and these issues are affecting all of the whales, not just her. Any attempt to pull her away and trying to treat her at this point is very likely just going to be an exercise in trauma for everyone.

One of the worst case scenarios is actually that they catch her, treat her, “fix” her, and release her back. Back-patting and job-well-dones would ensue. The public at large would consider things a success,

But nothing will have changed. She’ll just go hungry again. The population will still be dying off and failing to reproduce. Helping her with no intention to help them all is pointless.
