Glofish tank update!! I rescaped today. I’ve been fighting high nitrates and algae because I haven’t been paying attention to the amount I’ve been feeding.
-Glofish are not dyed; they are selectively bred fish whose ancestors were injected with a jellyfish gene to detect poor water quality-

The blackish-grey ones are what they look like in the wild, the two white ones are selectively bred for no pigment, and the rest are genetically modified for those colors. They’re perfectly healthy though may be a bit inbred at this point. If left to breed the bright colors tend to eventually fade, but they do breed adn do produce colored offspring.

this one time my little brother and I were doing a lemonade stand, like little kids do, and one of our customers jogged across a parking lot to get to us, gave us $5 for 25c lemonade, and told us to keep the change. Kudos to random jogger guy who made our entire day. If you get lemonade from little kids, let them keep the change, or tip them. It’s a really cheap way to make someone’s day. 10 cents is awesome when you’re a little kid and anything up from there is more awesome.
These are two of my Okefenokee pygmy sunfish. The left is a male, the right is a female. They are two of the ten that I have, and I very much hope that they breed soon.
Pygmy sunfish really go all-out on the whole sexual dimorphism thing. It’s even more incredible considering they pack all that color into an inch of length.
hey so fun facts! this thing apparently cost upwards of 20,000£ to fly for something like two hours. imagine the things actual activists could do with 20,000£.
imagine, for example, the immigrant families we could reunite with 20k. imagine the disabled people we could support through the financial hardships forced on them by the uk government. imagine the thousands of productive things we could achieve with 20,000£, rather than spending it on meaningless boondoggles that do nothing except make liberals laugh and signal your uselessness to everyone with half a brain
