In Latvia, we’ve been dealing with articles like this, I dunno, for ages. There are stories saying that Norwegians hold incest as cultural norm and that WHO recommends teaching kindergartners to masturbate. Unsurprisingly there are stories where the gay community and human rights NGO’s are blamed for spreading pedophile propaganda and what not. The sources often are shady “traditional values” right wing organisations with ties to Russia. No matter the fact that there have been gazillions of debunks, people still keep reposting these. So I guess… brace yourselves.  

This also used to be pretty constant in the US, but everyone to the left of George W. Bush knew to recognize it.

I guess that the right-wing orgs seeding this trash figured out that if they let one generation in the US grow up without constantly being hounded by pedophilia libel, those people wouldn’t know to mistrust them when they brought it back. And sure enough that’s what’s happening.
