when people ask what kind of fish they can keep in an unheated, unfiltered 1 gallon tank

…but you have to be willing to do 100% water changes every other day (after you feed), and have a basically undecorated tank except for large rocks and smooth plastic hides. And also technically not be keeping a FISH.

Obviously axos do appreciate having more space, but from what I’ve seen even experienced fishkeepers seem to have a lot of trouble keeping axo tanks cycled properly, so that isn’t always the best option. They’re extremely hardy to pretty much everything, which makes them great for beginners.

Axolotls can get about 8-9 inches long.

That’s longer than a 1 gallon aquarium.

This person has basically just suggested keeping a Great Dane in a dog crate it can’t even stand up in.
