Okay listen. Maybe they didn’t choose this character design to appeal to female audiences.

1. Maybe its a species related to the nightfury (although I see this as unlikely)
2. Some people are complaining that toothless is black because nightfuries attack at night so its his camouflage. But I would like to point out that the people of berk had only ever encountered one nightfury and based all of their facts on him. Therefore there is a possibility that nightfuries are wrongly named because not all of them are black?
3. Perhaps the male nightfuries hunt in the dark so they can’t be seen and the females want you to see the beautiful creature that’s going to end you.

I don’t know guys. These are just my stupid thoughts on the matter. I just hope it’s a good movie that everyone enjoys.

Maybe it’s a baby//juvenile and that’s just what they look like at first.
