Why is it that Transformers look like metallic human (regardless of continuity)?
I know that Transformers are creations of human beings, and human beings generally prefer humanoid characters over some weird “realistic alien life form” shit, but that’s the matter beyond their universe. Is there any explanation that does not break 4th wall?
Aligned continuity may have some explanations for this, because they’ve got Unicron as Earth itself. but what about other continuities?
I think that GI Joe comic from Tom Scoli had humanity and Transformers being made by a godperson called Daiakuron, buuuuuut the entire comic’s just batshit.
G1 cartoon has the transformers as having been made by quintessons, who I guess designed them humanoid because it’s a useful shape despite the quints not being humanoid themselves. Kind of a cop out & it’s not my favorite origin but yanno, it’s there
Fair point, but it still doesn’t explain directly why humans and TFs look so alike… did Quintessons ever seen humans? Or did humans just miraculously evolved into what quintessons thought would be the useful shape by some sheer dumb luck???
Depends on the continuity- ALSO in the G1 cartoon Primus is made not by Quintessons, but by a humanoid creature (Primacron) so it’s implied that Transformers actually look like that, not just humans. Humans and Primacron just kinda look like each other (there’s also some additional less-canon stuff from comics that’s supposed to suggest Quintessons looked humanoid before they became big squid cyborgs but I can’t find anything about it so idk where or when that was.)
Though I have seen suggestions for concepts where Transformers are not, in fact, humanoid- but they also scan humans as a secondary altmode- their actual “true form” being more quintesson like in that they’re just metal octopuses.
Well, in TFP, Unicron is the Earth’s core. It’s likely that he subconsciously influenced the development of life on Earth. So, in TFP, it’s because humans look Cybertronianoid.
