reblog this with a wish and I’ll reply with a description of how a genie might grant it
lets see if the fairy-lawyering practice has paid off, alright here we go.
I wish to have, within the next hour extending until such time as I decide verbally out loud to not have the results of this wish, the ability to grow any plant of my choice for the sensible duration of that plants lifetime without physical or mental consequences for anyone involved except for those created by myself willingly and intentionally depending on what I use that plant for, and the plant will have no extra characteristics beyond that of the plant that it is as defined by botanical science up to the point that I am, at the time, brining life to that plant and the plant in question will be immune to plant diseases for up to three years, after which time it will be susceptible to all things as other plants in the environment are susceptible to and no more than other things in that area are. Plants include all members of the scientific kingdom Plantae and the ability shall only be applicable when I personally wish it to be, and at all other times will be rendered inert until use is wanted.
Very well, you get your wish.
However, this is contingent upon you “brining” your plants by soaking them in salty water. Good luck getting them to thrive.
Seaweed.
You can now feed the world.
Also, mangroves might be worth a shot, depending on how much of the plant has to be submerged for it to count.
I wouldn’t take a genie wish. If I couldn’t get out of taking it, I’d make it something incredibly simple, like “please cause this single pebble, and only this single pebble, to turn bright purple”. I doubt I could phrase any big request to where it couldn’t be taken advantage of.
Things that live in salty water, on the other hand, I know plenty about.
