…I just slept for 15 hours. What the actual fuck.
Do you feel any better or is it still a draining kind of tired?
I’ve always got the “battery at critical levels, plug in to charge” feeling, pretty much never goes away at this point, but I am more clear headed and things hurt less so, yay.
Hey, is there a name for that? I am in the process of trying to figure out what the hell is going on with my joint pain and fatigue, but have no fibromyalgia trigger points, and it sounds a lot like what you describe? Thank you, I hope it gets easier for you.
Mines is chronic fatigue which is either a symptom of something or a syndrome all by itself. I’m still going through the bullshit medical circus of “you must have been sick this long under our direct observation to be diagnosed” despite suffering for years.
Cfs and fibromyalgia are similar enough to sometimes be misdiagnosed as each other (and can sometimes even go hand in hand) so you could have the symptom, (check your vit d and b levels if you haven’t alteady, also iron for anemia) or the actual syndrome which is longer lasting and varies in severity. The best feeling I can use to describe it is like the drained exhausted feeling you get after fighting off flu, but unlike flu, the fatigue and weakness never goes away. There might me better days where you’re not quite so tired, but usually you’re fatigued All the Time no matter how much you rest.
^This. Twice I have come up as a possible fibro or CFS patient and the first time it was Non Celiac Gluten Sensitivity (yes it is real do not go there with me) and the second most recent time we found out that having slightly low Vitamin D levels makes me collapse like a have a major deficiency and show CFS like symptoms.
Folks out there: If you have a mysterious fatiguey illness, see an endocrinologist if you have not already done so, and check your levels of *everything*. You might have something kind of low that affects you way more than you expect.
You may also benefit from elimination tests with your food and regular products like shampoos: We only worked out the NCGS by me deciding to do elimination trials of common autoimmune irritants, and when I stopped having any gluten my symptoms began to improve.
I know testing is tiring but we’re tired anyway! Might as well get answers out of it. Sometimes, science doesn’t have answers yet, but as we keep taking care of ourselves, and raising awareness of chronic conditions and funds for the research, we will find ways to live our new normal better and better. Best of luck, Fellow Spoonies!
Thank you for typing this out. Directly after this I lost energy and had to rest or I’d have rag dolled later on. It’s been a “fun” week.
Also, check your blood pressure. See what it’s doing when you’re lying down, then stand up, stand still, and see if it changes while you stand still. Look up “Poor man’s tilt table test”, you need a blood pressure cuff but it’s otherwise simple. There’s a couple of low blood pressure issues that can manifest as fatigue, and often don’t show up on the regular check at a doctor’s office, especially since they consider low to be good.
