Don’t. Give. Interviews.
If someone from the media approaches you and asks for comments or opinions, completely ignore them. Many right wing outlets/reporters/YouTubers try to interview antifa and take it out of context to make us look weak, malicious, and stupid. RebelMedia try it in the UK a lot.
Don’t. Talk. To. Police.
Police are not our friends. They will often try start up small talk with protesters who might be trapped behind a police line or just close enough for talks. Don’t respond, ignore them, any information they gather from your chat can be used to ID you.
Be cautious, be smart, be alert, be ready.
Also watch out for undercover cops during protests, signs of one are
- Military boots/steel toed boots
- Clean cut hair
- Jackets/clothes from a sports brand
- Hoodies
- If they just randomly show up in the activist scene with no history of activism
- Taking lots of photos (of the protesters)
- Asking about leaders of groups
- Pushing for illegal actions
- Trying to create rifts and fights in the community
- Unknown source of income/ unusual amounts of money
- Defensive when confronted
- Not afraid of going to jail
There was a video of a nazi running up to antifa, pepper spraying them in the face, then getting shoved back. The media decided to cut out the pepper spraying and only showed the shove to make antifa look like unprovoked aggressors.
