Disappointing, you don’t need to blame pandas for conservation ills, and if you think they deserve extinction, what about us war torn humans? We’re much more expensive to take care of so perhaps we should be extinct to save costs.

This person is so mad that I hate pandas they replied to my post 5 times (including the above reply) and sent me 11 messages and are still completely wrong. 

Pandas are ecologically useless. They aren’t prey for other species, they don’t pollinate, disperse seeds or control or shape vegetation or the environment.

And on top of that people donate and spend a crazy amount of conservation money on them and despite all these conservation efforts and money thrown at them, like zoolite pointed out in another reply (like this was some amazing break through) they are classified now as vulnerable rather then endangered.

The above reply just shows this person has no idea how conservation efforts or money is raised or spent. 

Any biologist knows about charismatic megafauna and how the general public, organisations, ect. will only really care about species that are considered cute and marketable. 

Literally the only good thing that has come from panda conservation efforts is that the protected environments have benefited actual other important species and that is has helped conservation efforts in a social aspect, that it helped raise awareness to the general public

But the money should be going directly towards those important species instead of being wasted on pandas who are 100% environmentally and ecologically unimportant.

 I’ve never seen someone so personally offended that I don’t care for pandas.

@zoolite, chill. They aren’t saying “PANDAS SHOULD DIE”, they’re saying “it would be really nice if all the money going to pandas went to more important species, since pandas have minimal environmental value and there are many more species with massive environmental value that need protection”. 

Like, y’know, vultures and stuff.
