birblr, this baby showed up on my doorstep today. doesn’t try to escape when I approach. no visible injuries either, but the bird is a little shaky and breathes quickly (was like that before i showed up). there are no avian vets in the hole i live in so any advice would be appreciated

Doesn’t need vet, needs to be taken to a wildlife rescue.

Take it inside, put it in a box lined with something soft, place a small dish of water near it, and keep it in a fairly dark area while you take it to a wildlife rescuer. Google should be able to help you find one. No need to avoid touching it with your hands, that thing about scent is a myth. Just go over and gently scoop it up, cup it in your hands to carry it.
