Those who think they are descended from Salthzaar Slytherin are sorely mistaken. He never sired any children. However, one of the factors driving the rumors of his family tree stem from the Parseltongue they assume follows his family line. 

All five of Helga Hufflepuff’s children – with a mild mannered wizard from valley broad – grew up speaking Parseltongue, learned from years of bedtime stories from their favorite uncle Salthzaar. 

Everyone who believes themselves a pure Slytherin – many of them superior and distainful of all other houses – is actually a descendant of the fair and loyal Hufflepuff.
