Where I live we can’t keep roosters and we have one and he is the sweetest guy ever he loves hugs and is super sweet, he is a blue langshan, they get to be 3ft tall 😱 i want to neuter him? What’s your take on that, is it dangerous and not done very often? I’d like to know my options

Personally, I have never heard of anyone neutering a rooster. I wouldn’t try it. Instead, try contacting your town board and discuss having the rooster. If you’re unable to, I suggest finding a friend or relative who can take care of him so you can at least still see him.

Neutering a rooster is much more involved than in other animals because their testes are up inside them. It’s not a commonly done procedure, so you’re unlikely to find a vet experienced in it, and it has a lot of risks. It may also not make him that much quieter. You’ll want to look for other options.
