That’s not even quote-mining, it’s a straight up lie and the exact opposite of what he said.

tom holland: there should be an indian spider-man. an indian spider-man not played by me, but by an indian actor. i want to see another person, who is not me, play an indian spider-man, and i would like this person to be indian, which i am not. indian spider-man played by someone else – “someone else” meaning “not me”. that is what i want.

Ok, can I point out something here?  This is not “the media”.  “The media” includes the actual interview that was posted.  “The media” is the dozens of other outlets that told you perfectly honest things about his interview.

One crappy site with one bad take is not “the media”, whether it be in movies, celebrities, politics, whatever.  Each media outlet has its own personality, its own rules, and its own level of trustworthiness.  It is on you to figure out which ones to listen to and which ones to ignore like your Uncle Carl who just spouts conspiracy theories he heard on “reputable websites” at holiday gatherings.

But if you toss up your hands and refuse to listen to any news whatsoever because you can’t trust it, then you are basically admitting that you are too lazy to fact check your own information feed and thus never want to learn anything else, ever.  And that is dangerous.
