Would this apply to rats? I know they’re sensitive to bad tap water too but?

Australia’s used chloramine and fluoride treatments in our tap water for decades and it’s perfectly safe for drinking. For humans and for rats. My pet rats have only ever had tap water and they’re perfectly fine. 

But I know America’s tap water often isn’t safe to drink like our water is. So probably check the levels, ect. But 

chloramine is generally safe for rats.

ATTENTION FISHKEEPERS: 

This also means that your standard tap water conditioner, if it only removes chlorine and not chloramine, will leave your fish swimming in ammonia and will badly stress and possibly kill them. You’ll want to get a new water conditioner if you can, or use bottled water if you can’t.
