What do i do when I have an injured bird in my garage and all the lisenced wildlife rehabbers closest to me are more than 20 miles away?? And all the local vets that take birds are closed for the night/weekend???

Its a cedar waxwing that was attacked by my neighbors cat… she’s alert and very lively, but her wing and tail are definitely injured (she’s bleeding). Not sure about the extent of how badly, though, as I didnt want to stress her out more than she already is.

I currently have her in a box in my garage…. I lined the inside with a towel, gave her a small dish of water, and have been leaving her alone since then.

I don’t know what to do 😦

Please boost this if you can, I really need advice.

The goal is to keep her stable until you can get her to a professional. First if she’s bleeding, or even if she’s stopped for now you’ll want to get that under control. Corn starch is safe and will help the blood clot. Once she’s no longer bleeding the next thing is getting her warm. A towel is good, but if you can provide a weak heat source it won’t hurt, make sure she can choose if she wants to be warm or cool and that the source doesn’t get too warm, watch for panting.

Is it an adult or juvenile? Adults have brown necks, yellow tummies and white around their masks. Young ones are mostly grey with a black mask.

As for food try to offer some berries and small soft feeder insects and see if she takes them. The younger the bird the musher it needs to be. Aside from that make sure she has water.

you’re also going to want to note where you found it. They’re flock birds and should ideally be really released around where their flock is.

Since a cat got her, she needs to go to a professional for antibiotics, or she’ll go septic. These are only temporary measures.

hey! so, minors can have crushes on adults and be attracted to adults. that’s… pretty damn normal? i had plenty of crushes on 20+ year old celebrities when i was a young teenager. there was a teacher at my middle school i had a crush on, too. but! if that teacher, or any adult, ever reciprocated those feelings for me, i would’ve been terrified and extremely uncomfortable. adults are not supposed to have crushes on minors. they are not supposed to be attracted to minors. a minor having a crush on an adult is not the problem here. adults returning those feelings is the problem.

That being said, apparently this is a thing that has happened before to other people, and I’m grateful for my suspicion.  If you get a youtube video (one by C.rosa R.osa in my case – apparently a favorite for this) randomly sent in as a submission, and you see some name with a sketchy h.otmail email address linked to it, DO NOT CLICK ON THE EMAIL ADDRESS.  The video is just a link to y.outube, yes, but the email link is not.  It is a fishing attempt and will lead you to a blank page.  Fortunately I looked this up before I did anything, so joke’s on you asshole.

This is so incredibly random, and I’ve never had this happen before, but it weirded me tf out enough to make a post about it.

Anyway, again, for that person who submitted that – get the hell off of my blog and off of tumblr.  Ridiculous.

Do not purchase animals from pet stores and do your best to get your supplies at pet stores that do not sell animals. Try your best not to support pet stores that sell animals.

The animals in large chain pet stores come from animal mills and the ones in the smaller stores are typically backyard bred.

It would be ideal if eventually pet stores sold pet supplies only and the pets themselves were purchased instead from reputable rescues or reputable breeders.

It’s a music video with rapid flashing colours/lights. I have very minor epilepsy, just focal seizures, and I maybe watched ten seconds before literally nothing was real around me and I think I’m going to throw up and have a heart attack.

crosa rosa have a history of spam sending videos to people with their submit open, and when confronted about it and the content of their videos before (misogynistic themes, transphobia, no epilepsy warnings), they were complete assholes about it.

Tumblr @staff have been silent about the use of this site by white nationalist bloggers, while numerous other sites (see this post) have made actions to ban nazis/white nationalists/”alt-right”/fascists. Tumblr needs to know their lack of action is unacceptable. I love my tumblr community and want to stay, but if this continues, I will have to considering leaving.

I suggest we push back, and unite to boycott on a certain date. I’m arbitrarily suggesting September 1st – it’s nine days from this post, and that gives it enough time to hopefully get spread as far as possible. Boycotts only work if lots of people do it. Please consider joining me and logging off tumblr on September 1st, to let them know we’re serious about their apathy towards white nationalism.

Let’s also let @staff know that as they’re trying to increase advertiser spend, they should be well-aware of most ad tech companies (on the buy and sell side) have explicit rules against hate speech. You can tell Tumblr is aware of this because they’ve doubled-down on trying to locate the NSFW posts (quite badly based on how their technology fails so often) for what I imagine is brand safety for advertisers.

Given groups like Sleeping Giants has been successful in amplifying the voices of users protesting brands appearing on Breitbart, any other platform could be next in having their advertisers signaled with a screenshot of said posts where hate speech is proudly displayed against an ad served… well, you get the drift.

That’s your friendly reminder that MCU cast loves Robert Downey Jr, a man who constantly reassure them and helps them, helped Chris Evans with his anxiety more than once and still does, helped him when he was unsure of he should sign or not such big contract with marvel. Reminder that all actors and actresses talks how nervous they were about to meet him and work with him, he was nice and sweet and always gives them advices and makes them feel at easy. Reminder that Robert is openly affectioned with all of them, hugging and kissing and let them knows Robert loves them. Reminder Robert likes to invite his co-workers to have dinner with him and always make sure to ask about allergies and nos beforehand. Reminder that Tom Holland said Robert even with how big his name is, doesn’t let it go over his head and is professional and always arrives earlier and works hard. Reminder that Robert talked marvel into paying more to his coworkers like they deserved. Reminder that there’s a reason everyone is so grateful and talks so much good things about him and is because he is genuinely nice and is a huge father figure to most of them and clearly is there if they need him.

Just to add on here: He has called his costars in his own time to congratulate them on side projects they have done and he has seen and liked. He also does this with his employees that leave to go do something else, and if he sees what great work you have done, he’ll call you and tell you how much he loved it (ie proof is when he called Tom Holland during an interview to congratulate him on Spider-man Homecoming). He doesn’t have to do this, and with his schedule he pretty much probably doesn’t have the time to do so, but he still does it anyways because he cares about his friends’ projects, movies, etc.
