Rabbits shouldn’t be confined to a cage. (Especially a dog cage..?) Rabbits are curious creatures that need to jump, run, chew and play to be healthy. Keeping them locked in a cage 24/7 as a toy for your kids will make them sick or develop aggression from stress. Healthy rabbit lifespans are 6-10 years, probably even more on very good health and genetics. Rabbit cages should only be a place for your rabbit to use the litterbox and sleep after a long day of exercise and play. Also, rabbits greatly benefit in pairs, but never keep two rabbits together unless they are fixed. Rabbits are territorial and they will either fight to the death or mate rapidly when intact. Up to 14 babies every month. Spaying and Neutering a rabbit also eliminates hormonal behavior like aggression and marking territory and almost all cancers. My sister lost her rabbit to testicular cancer because we never knew rabbits could be fixed. This is the proper set up for a rabbit.

I’m cringing at that rainbow “my mommy got me a cute hamster” rodent cage. These are small creatures that need to run around and explore. They need to burrow and chew, they need dust baths and enough space to tunnel. These animals are solitary and stress out if kept together. This is the proper set up for a hamster or other small rodent.

The “Kritter Keeper” tub is great for traveling, but should never be used as a confinement for a small pet. I can only imagine how stressed a rat or hamster would be in such a small carrier.

Meow Mix is a horrible brand of cat food, I used to feed it to my cats and they would just throw it back up. It’s so low quality that half of the ingredients aren’t even food items. The meat is all scrap by products from slaughterhouses like hooves, eyes, tails and fat because it’s cheap. Which is something they don’t list on the packaging to fool pet owners. I always used to find worms in my bags of Meow Mix. Beneful literally uses antifreeze in it’s food, which has lead to the deaths of thousands of dogs a year. From conditions such as internal bleeding, seizures and cancers.

Canaries are birds that need to fly. They were not meant to be domesticated and profited from as pets. They are highly active birds that will self harm from stress in such confined spaces. Canaries are delightful to have in groups, though they are fine on their own, but every 1 bird adds 3 cubic feet to the space needed. They need multiple perches and toys. These are examples of proper Canary or other small bird enclosures.

Betta fish are highly intelligent fish that need a minimum of 2.5 gallons. The larger the tank, the better. When kept like a decoration in a small cube or bowl, that the fish will die a horribly stressed life within a year when they can live for 9 or more on good health and genetics. They need calm filtration to get rid of the ammonia. The need dense plant life and a place to hide when stressed, as well as a heater because they are tropical. 77-82 degrees F. They are aggressive to each other but can live with many types of non-nippy, short finned fish. These fish are so intelligent that they actually play with you, and they need mental stimulation and frozen feed to live healthy. I could go on to explain the nitrogen cycle and proper water parameters for these fish, but I don’t have time. At least they aren’t goldfish, who need 30 gallons minimum These are proper Betta setups.

Bearded Dragons should never be fed a diet of strictly pellet food. These are omnivorous creatures that need a wide variety of live foods. Meal worms, crickets, horn worms, super worms, etc. As well as lettuces and assorted vegetables. I used to know some people who fed their Beardies only a pellet diet and ended up having to give them away because they eventually refused to eat and turned grey. They were grossed out by the thought of feeding worms. Pellets are good for coaxing beardies to eat who were only ever fed a salad diet and show no interest in insects, but should never be fed dry. They should be soaked or placed in the water dish. The pellet brand in the picture is low quality however, and probably doesn’t provide any nutrition.

“Look at this beauty! Not sure any photos of her are gonna come out, the way she’s runnin’. Look at her!”
*medium-sized dog barks from somewhere nearby*
*wasp goes under leaves*
“Ohp, goodbye.”

Tarantula hawk wasp! Lovely critters. Very loud fliers, fast runners. Active, always moving, but not aggressive. Supposedly has one of the most painful stings in the world. The camera didn’t do her justice, she was a beautiful dark blue. Didn’t seem to notice me at all.
