anon with the pregnant dog: The after hours number for the vet isn’t answering and the closest 24 hours vet is an hour and a half away and It is midnight and no one in my house can drive.

zoologicallyobsessed:

I can’t help you, I’m not a vet, I’m a zoologist which are very different.

Try and give the dog a nest. A quiet, private place, away from potential fumes and extreme temperatures, lined with old blankets and other soft stuff. Put some food and water nearby, and leave her alone as much as possible. Try not to disturb her. Hopefully she won’t have the pups until a vet is available, and, if not, she should be OK otherwise. Unless she’s a bulldog or something else with an awkward pelvic structure, it should work out fine, mammals are made to be able to safely give birth.
