Accidental training anecdote: last week there was a miscommunication and the cat’s litter box wasn’t cleaned for three days (usually we do it every day). He: got into the cupboard where we keep the plastic bags, ferreted one out from the thing we keep them in, dragged said plastic bag into his litter box, and then came over and led me to the washroom, as if to say, “I know these things go together! Make it happen, human!”

why-animals-do-the-thing:

Oh, man, this is great. Our pets definitely notice our routines, and while I’m not sure how much your cat consciously knew that you needed the bag to clean the litterbox, it sounds like it absolutely figured out that one thing was associated with the other.
