Is it literally just a pretty pin to put on your clothes, or does it hold a cloak up like in LOTR bc they called the fuckin leaf things from Lorien a brooch and I just need to fucking know.

A brooch is a piece of jewelry made of a relatively flat, decorative piece, and a pin affixed to the back that anchors parallel to the decorative piece. It can either be a small, decorative pin, or it can be a larger pin, with that same structure, that you use to hold items of clothing such as cloaks, bandannas, and hip scarves in place.
