I have not have experience with it o.o Any of my followers use that stuff?
Straw is fine for reptiles that do NOT need high humidity; I use it with my rat snake and corn snake. They love it and it’s actually great for burrowing and holds burrow shapes pretty well; it can be a little dusty so it’s best to put it in a bag and shake it out outside for a few minutes first.
Straw is NOT fine for reptiles that need higher (like higher than ‘higher than average household humidity on a non-humid day) humidity as it molds very, VERY easily.
That also means that, even for reptiles with low humidity requirements, you have to be super diligent about spot cleaning and removing any wet straw around the water dish.
You could move most of the substrate to one side and heap it up into a nice deep pile as a temporary measure, so he’ll have somewhere to burrow while you get more stuff.
